The Mezzo bar is the
second level lounge inside Johnson's Nightclub
which was re-opened in 1998. It was opened with
the intent to provide a comfortable and relaxed
vibe, while at the same
time being flexible enough to change to a good
party venue when required. As the rest of the
local venues decide to re-invent and re-open
constantly, the staff in the mezzo bar know it
is not just a change of paint that creates a
good venue and atmosphere so
have concentrated on the music and the regulars
that come into the bar. Whilst
most other venues
in Dunfermline play
only commercial chart music with no interest in
what people actually might prefer to hear, the
mezzo bar has never bowed to pressure or
popularity and has remained true to its sound of
good house, disco, soul, hip-hop and funk.
Inspiration for such a sound coming from the
legendary sounds of the Loft, the Good Times
Sound System and New York's The Paradise Garage
and Studio 54. Many a good night has been had
with various DJ's playing
over the years, namely Colin
Cook, Mikey Inglis, Andrew
Stirling, Ross Paterson and Andrew Watson all
providing their own take on music
and being amongst the few who believe in
a good sound system and strive
to keep their sound true in a town where a club
scene is virtually non-existent. If you want to
make a difference to the night-life locally, then
please come along - we're sure you will find it a
refreshing change to your night out . If you like
it then we would appreciate the thanks, if not
then we would love to hear your views !
